The aura is defined as the set of energetic bodies that coexist with the physical body in the same space and surround it. In general, there are seven subtle or high-vibration energy bodies that envelop and coexist with the physical body:
Each of these energy bodies has its own frequency band. The etheric body, which is the closest to the physical body, vibrates at the lowest frequency range. The higher bodies possess increasingly higher frequency bands.
The etheric body is the vehicle of vitality and life energy that sustains the physical body. It extends beyond the physical body and acts as a bridge between the physical and subtle bodies. The etheric body has approximately the same size and shape as the physical body, which is why it is also called the etheric double.
It contains the vital energy of organs, tissues, glands, and acupuncture meridians. This body energizes and sustains the physical body until death. It is formed with each reincarnation and dissolves three to five days after physical death.
It receives energy through the solar plexus and spleen chakras. It stores and channels this energy continuously into the physical body to maintain cellular balance. The energy accumulated in this body radiates outward through the chakras and pores, forming a protective halo around the physical body that prevents pathogens and pollutants from entering the physical system.
The emotional body is the bearer of our feelings, emotions, and personality traits. Every emotion is expressed through the emotional body. It reflects and stores emotional experiences and patterns. The more a person opens their awareness to love, surrender, and joy, the clearer and more transparent the colors radiated by the emotional aura become.
Unreleased feelings within the emotional body tend to perpetuate and grow. This leads a person to repeatedly attract situations aligned with those unresolved emotional vibrations. These stored emotional experiences partly determine the circumstances of a new life.
The mental body is associated with thought, the mind, and rational consciousness. It vibrates at a higher frequency than the etheric and emotional bodies.
The more vivid the thoughts and the deeper the intellectual understanding, the clearer and more intense the colors radiated by the mental vehicle become.
At its lower frequency level, this body relates to rational thinking—mostly concerning material matters, personal well-being, and logical problem-solving.
At its higher frequency level, the mental body becomes a true integrator—receiving and interpreting universal truths and aligning them with rational understanding. This allows the human being to become aware of the true nature of things.
The astral body serves as the bridge between the physical and spiritual aspects of the human being. The higher bodies, including the astral, do not become ill. This is why healing practices focus more on the lower bodies connected to the physical world. When we sleep, we all use our astral body. It is the one we experience in the dream world.
The astral world is the realm we visit every time we sleep. A dream is a lived experience through this body.
This body is associated with spirituality, the connection to the Higher Self, and spiritual awareness. It is believed to reflect the connection with the spiritual self and higher consciousness. It is connected to the throat chakra, creativity, communication, sound, and everything the physical body represents—mirrored in the spiritual plane.
This means that energies from both the physical and spiritual realms interact within this layer. It tends to grow stronger when you speak your truth.
This body is a reflection of the subconscious mind and extends two to three feet beyond the physical body. Its representative color is pearlescent white.
It is considered a layer with a powerful and high vibration, as it connects the physical mind to the spiritual mind through devotional practices or exercises such as meditation.
It is directly connected to the third eye chakra, dreams, spiritual awareness, memory, honesty, and unconditional love.
This body contains human intelligence. It is the “Higher Self” that holds the invisible matter of the mental plane and is even more subtle. It is the body of willpower.
It is connected to the crown chakra and holds all knowledge and potential, as well as everything related to the soul and past lives. Its function is to keep all the other layers of the aura unified.
